My mom suffering from the devastation of Alzheimer’s, and my dad (and the rest of us) struggling to adapt to this new reality.

My mom was a force to be reckoned with – a strong, in-charge and yet always generous (so generous) person who ran a tight ship. My dad wasn’t exactly just “along for the ride”, but she ran our house and their lives. She’s in the middle to late stages of Alzheimer’s, and it’s heartbreaking to see the physical, cognitive, and emotional effects of this nasty, nasty disease. And my dad is struggling mightily to accept the changes, maintain his patience, and find a measure of grace in accompanying her down this dark and twisted path.
