a blessing when your family disappoints you

a blessing when your family disappoints you

o God, i am angry and hurt, and just so very sad.

o God, heal me, and show me what this disappointment means.

God have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Spirit have mercy.

though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.
Psalm 27:10

God have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Spirit have mercy.

blessed are we who turn to You from inside this sad and silent place,
like some strange holy Saturday sepulchre
where a once-cherished hope lies still.

blessed are we with eyes downcast,
who will stay in this peculiar quiet long enough
to let it become something like truth, something like a container
with strengthening walls to keep safe what might stir—
for love and longing that once was, and still might be.

blessed are we, when tears begin,
who find that suddenly O God that You are near.
we are home, and there is a little more space, and light and peace.
forgiveness seems to want to move around as freely
as kids in and out of the house on a summer day.

blessed are we who remember
that You are the God who does wonders.

God have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Spirit have mercy.

look intently to God, who is Love. you are being transformed into that same image. rest.

“behold, I am making all things new.”  Revelation 21:5
